This giant peacock moth is beautifully mounted in a 18x18cm frame on a dramatic black background featuring an elegant gothic arch decoration with gold leaf windows. Found across southern Europe, this spectacular nocturnal species is scientifically known as Saturnia pyri and holds the title of Europe's largest native moth. It is characterised by its striking grey, brown, and cream wings, which are dominated by four massive, concentric eyespots that mirror the intricate pattern of a peacock's feather. These vivid eyespots shimmer beautifully against the gold leaf detailing, creating a dramatic, dark academia aesthetic that highlights the moth's impressive size and intricate markings.
